rima, of river of ceramics, and i first met at a market just a few years ago, when leila was just a wee little one. her eyes struck me. their love, penetrable. rima's hand formed faces are unbelievable acts of creativity. earth and spirit united.
rima sobh is a lebanese born, self-taught ceramic artist living in canada. this spring, her friend and photographer jo concetta, spent a day in their realm, documenting a love and unison so tender. a new collaboration in the making.
enjoy these love notes from rima to leila. poetry, both written and visual. a love like this.
what makes you, you?
is all the starry skied nights and bright sunny days that aligned til you. every blade of grass, every soaring bird, every drop of rain that conspired in the very creation of you. in all the women who came before, my mother, my grandmother, who held us, who weave us together, all the way down to you.
you light up when..
the fire in your soul meets the fire in another. when your grandmother sings you your favourite song, when youre running beside your best friend, its a beautiful thing to bare witness to.
i see your brilliance when..
you challenge yourself, even through fear, your willingness to move through this world with such strength for such a small person.
thank you, leila, for..
forgiving me, for loving me, for teaching me every single day. I am a better person every day, because I have been loved by you.
we invite you to take some time and journal your own love notes to your beloved
